This aran/worsted scarf pattern belongs to Violet Green. Please don't copy, but you're welcome to link to this page if you want to.
Takes approximately 100g of aran yarn or one 100g skein of hand-dyed Superfine Alpaca DK, and a pair of 5mm knitting needles.
To make the scarf:
Cast on 38 stitches
(Note: you can cast on any even number of stitches, depending on the width you require. A 38 stitch caston will give a scarf approximately 13cm wide, and, with 100g of yarn, will give a scarf length of approximately 110cm.)
Then, work the following row:
Slip 1 stitch, **Purl 1, Knit 1, repeat from ** until the end of the row.
That's it! Just repeat that row until the scarf is as long as you want it to be, then cast off in the following way (if you just do a normal castoff the end of the scarf will splay out and not lie properly flat):
Slip 1 stitch, **Purl 1, PSSO, Knit 1, PSSO, repeat from ** until the end of the row.
Glossary:
PSSO= Pass the second stitch along the right hand needle over the stitch you just knit/purled.
